Even after some extended recovery time after their Thanksgiving Day game in Dallas, the Redskins are dealing with some injuries.
At the top of the list is tight end Jordan Reed. He suffered a shoulder injury against the Cowboys and he was somehow able to return after halftime. He was out of practice today and his ability to play against the Cardinals on Sunday is very much in doubt.
“Slowly” was the word that Jay Gruden was used when asked how Reed was progressing.
“He didn’t do a lot today,” said Gruden. “He’s in a lot of pain, but like I said, he’s got a few days here to really get in the training room and try to make it feel as comfortable as possible before game time and we’ll just have to make a decision come Friday or Saturday.”
Reed leads the team in receptions with 59 and is third in receiving yards with 630.
Also missing practice was defensive end Anthony Lanier, who sustained a lower leg contusion against the Cowboys.
Long snapper Nick Sundberg, who missed the last two games with a back injury, was a full participant in practice. This was expected as Rick Lovato, his replacement for those two games, was released on Tuesday.
There are some concerns about injuries to OT Ty Nsekhe (ankle) and G Brandon Scherff (ankle) and both were limited in practice. However, both seem to be on track to play on Sunday.
Also limited were LB Terence Garvin (shoulder), and DE Ricky Jean Francois (knee).
