RICHMOND - Camp lingered a bit too long, as these things tend to do, but the Redskins players didn't let that slow down the action on the field. If anything, it seemed the Redskins defense wanted to end their time in Richmond beating the offense.

It's been talked about, but Kendall Fuller had a strong three weeks. He ended the camp with an impressive interception in 1v1 drills and lockdown defense in team drills.

More news and notes:
  • In an interesting move, on repeated occasions, Josh Norman moved inside to play slot coverage. This typically only happened when the offense lined up with wideouts only on one side of the line of scrimmage, or a heavy set.
  • For all the talk of improved linebacker play and the speed of Zach Brown, Will Compton ended the last practice in Richmond with a near interception in the end zone. Compton has a command of the play on the field and challenges teammates to be their best.
  • Vernon Davis still has speed. Age hasn't slowed him. It's remarkable.
  • A few defensive players grew frustrated with Kirk Cousins on Sunday. During team drills there is no hitting the QB, obviously, so often a play should be dead when defensive linemen get into the backfield but Cousins will continue. That happened repeatedly Sunday afternoon, and while it's a good show for fans in attendance, Cousins running around the backfield isn't real football. Most of the time it's fun, but when it happens over and over, defenders get tired of it.
  • Mack Brown looked impressive Sunday. With Samaje Perine's subpar opening game, perhaps Brown can again show coaches his ability on Saturday against the Packers.
  • As for the game against the Packers, here's what must happen: The Redskins starters need three quarters of work between the Packers game and the Bengals the following week. What order that happens doesn't matter, but the team needs the live work to be ready for the Eagles on September 10th.
