While the Redskins still have the option to work out a trade of Kirk Cousins to another team after giving him the exclusive franchise tag that is not going to happen, according to a report.

Speaking on, Ian Rapoport said that the Redskins have no intention of letting go their quarterback.

“He is not going anywhere,” said Rapoport. “Really, what the Redskins did was answer one of the biggest questions of the 2017 offseason with one move. They decided that they are not going to trade him to the San Francisco 49ers, they’re not going to trade him anywhere. He’s going to be their quarterback for the next year and that is that.”

Team president Bruce Allen has said several times that the team wants to sign Cousins to a long-term deal. That may or may not happen but it appears that Cousins will be behind center for at least the 2017 NFL season.
