Sorry, Cam Newton, but Ricky Jean Francois will be the most fashionable player at FedEx Field tonight, and he’s doing it with a purpose.

The Redskins defensive end will honor the late NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager — who passed away Thursday at age 65 after a lengthy battle against cancer — with brilliantly colorful, custom cleats, as a clear nod to Sager’s incomparable suits and general style.

“Those of us in the sports world lost a legend when Craig Sager passed away last week,” Jean Francois wrote on Instagram. “He inspired myself and so many others with his vibrant fashion sense and personality. These cleats are my gesture of appreciation in honor of his memory, but also a way of continuing to raise awareness for the fight against cancer.”

Other Washington-area athletes paid tribute to Sager as well, including Jean Francois’ teammate Josh Norman, who recalled childhood memories of watching Sager on TV and described his passing as “a big loss to the NBA family.”
