Despite reports that his return was imminent, Jay Gruden said early Monday afternoon he had heard nothing from Su'a Cravens about coming back.
A few hours later, Gruden, and the rest of those who have been following the surprise storyline, got a definitive answer as to how the saga will end: The second-year safety isn't returning Tuesday, or in a few weeks, or at all, actually.
His 2017 season is officially over.
Here's the Redskins statement on the matter:
Deshazor Everett and Montae Nicholson will be the safeties Jay Gruden and Greg Manusky look to to fill Cravens' spot for the remainder of the year. Cravens is just 22, and was drafted by Washington in 2016.
