Are the Celtics already looking past the Wizards and ahead to the Cavaliers? That may be the case judging by Avery Bradley's comments on Sunday.
The shooting guard said his team feels it should beat Cleveland and move on to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. Via Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe:
Avery Bradley says Cs have to think big: "We believe we should be playing against Cleveland, and beat Cleveland and go to the championship."— Adam Himmelsbach (@AdamHimmelsbach) May 14, 2017
The shooting guard has played some of the best basketball of his career in the past two games, scoring 29 and 27 points against the Wizards.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. There's still the small matter of facing a Game 7 against the Wizards on Monday.
The Celtics aren't going anywhere unless they can defeat John Wall and company at TD Garden. And if the ending of Game 6 should tell Bradley anything, it's never to count out the Wizards.
But it's not just Washington that Bradley is eager to move past; he's also putting the Cavaliers in the rear view. Or at least that's what his comments sound like.
He might be trying to make a point that the Celtics won't settle for the Eastern Conference Finals. That's all fair, but the way he said it could give both the Wizards and the Cavs bulletin board material they don't need.
