Turner Sports analyst Charles Barkley joined SportsTalk Live Friday night on CSN to talk about a range of NBA topics, including the looming possibility that Kevin Durant could leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency and sign elsewhere.
The Wizards have been structuring their roster to allow for the possibility that the Washington, D.C.-area native could return home.
Barkley, though, wouldn't like to see the move as much as many Wizards fans would. Barkley, really, wouldn't like to see him go anywhere.
"I hope he stays in OKC," Barkley said. "I would love because he's a terrific player and a terrific kid, I would love to see him stay in OKC his entire career.
"But you know, man, these guys do what they want to do. I wish them all the best, but for some reason they all want to play in big cities like you're going to be more famous winning in a certain city.
"If you win a championship in Cleveland, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, you're going to be just as big. So, I hope he stays in Oklahoma City. I wish him nothing but the best. I just hope he gets healthy."
Durant played in just 27 games last season as he dealt with a foot injury. He sounded optimisitic about his recovery when interviewed while in attendance at a Thunder Summer League game in Orlando this month.
"I’ve been working hard every single day, trying to get back right," he told NBATV. "I miss the game so much, I miss competing against the best players in the world and I look forward to getting back."
CSN's full interview with Charles Barkley will air Friday night at 10 p.m. and replay at midnight.
