Hold off on purchasing a Marcin Gortat Wizards jersey. That jersey might have a different number next season.
See, the Polish Machine started his NBA career wearing No. 13 with the Orlando Magic. Here's proof.
When the Magic dealt him to Phoenix during the 2010-11 season, a number swap was required seeing as Suns great Steve Nash donned the lucky 13.
Gortat then took 4 and that's the way it's been since. Even if he wanted to switch back following the trade to Washington, no luck. Kevin Seraphin wore 13.
Well, Seraphin no longer plays for the Wizards. One day after the now ex-Wizard signed with the New York Knicks last week, Gortat let the world know of his jersey number intentions.
I hope I can come back to my number #13

This would mean breaking up the 2 (John Wall), 3 (Bradley Beal) and 4 thing the Wizards had going on the starting lineup. I suspect Randy Wittman won't mind.
By the way, Gortat documented some of his offseason adventures, but there's been a clear lack of farm animals this summer. Oh well. Expect actual basketball news in the coming days and weeks as Gortat helps the Polish national team for the 2015 EuroBasket tournament.

Too bad the photographer didn't have the players in the front rows sit. Then we'd see Gortat's jersey number, which in the past has been, you guessed it, 13.
