The Wizards have been linked in multiple reports to Pacers star Paul George as Indiana seeks a trade for the All-Star swingman. Washington is among the teams who have reportedly talked to Indiana as they aim to add a third star to team with John Wall and Bradley Beal.
Fans and the media have shared their opinions on this. Now, we know what Wall thinks about it. The Wizards' point guard joined the HoopsHype podcast with Alex Kennedy on Tuesday night and offered his thoughts on the potential of George landing in Washington:
"Paul George is one of those one-of-a-kind type of players that can do it on both ends of the floor. He definitely can create his own shot and guard some of the best players. If he did have the opportunity to come to our team, he would be a great piece for us. That would be another guy that would really make us a contender and put us in a different conversation than what we were in this year."
Wall was also asked about recruiting free agents. He reiterated that he's not interested in actively luring players to D.C. He explained as much in his exit interview with reporters following the 2016-17 season. But while on the subject, he did touch on why he thinks other players should want to join the Wizards and how close he thinks they are to being title contenders:
"I think a lot of people understand and see what our team has and what we're capable of. I feel like we're a piece away. People understand what they're getting if they play with me, [Markieff Morris], Brad [Beal], Otto [Porter] and those guys."
Wall spoke with HoopsHype for about 30 minutes on many topics including his career, the Wizards and other deals around the league like the Dwight Howard and Markelle Fultz trades. He also discussed the Warriors and what it will take to beat them.
