Two moves the Sacramento Kings made today takes them out of the running for Otto Porter, who received a max offer sheet at $106 million but never signed it, unless they find a way to shed salary.

George Hill (three years, $57 million) and Zach Randolph (two years, $24 million) don't leave them enough room under the salary cap.

Under the offer sheet Sacramento discussed with Porter over the weekend, he'd make an average salary of $26.5 million for each of four years. They have just $17 million left after these transactions.

Teams can exceed the $99 million cap to retain their own free agents, but the Kings don't have Porter's Bird rights. The Wizards, who already are over the cap, can. But ideally they want to avoid the luxury tax level at $119 million.

Porter has yet to sign an offer sheet that can be pulled at any time and may have to seek one from another team, such as the Brooklyn Nets.
