He said it:
"Immediately I know I can come in and play defense. If coach needs me to stop I know I can defend a team’s best player, a team’s second best player, and so on. As far as that I can bring that impact, I can bring energy, I can bring excitement to people’s lives. Players often play more comfortable when they feel enthused or happy about things, and I know I can bring that to a team. I know I can find other teammates, I can push the ball and I can finish at the rim." -- Hollis-Jefferson (via CSNchicago.com)
Fit for the Wizards:
Washington needs an infusion of youthful legs even with the trio of John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter on the roster. There is also plenty of uncertainty on the wings as the team waits for Paul Pierce's decision and ponders what Martell Webster provides going forward. While not a natural scorer, Hollis-Jefferson's style and athleticism leads to him making plays all over the court, especially on the defensive end, where he is stopper material. His energy and speed would provide with another fast-break finisher. However the Wizards also need more perimeter shooting and that's not his bag for now. Porter, who had a strong defensive performance during the playoffs, also provides hustle and energy plays from the small forward role. There is plenty to like about RHJ's game especially during an era where the Warriors and Cavaliers use lineups loaded with wings. The Wizards may simply not be the right fit for now.
