CSNwashington.com's coverage leading up to the 2015 NBA Draft will include profiles of prospects as well as their potential fit on the Wizards. Washington currently owns the 19th and 49th selections.
Terry Rozier, PG, Louisville
6'2" | 190 lbs. | 21 years old
17. 1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals, 35.0 minutes
The second-team All-ACC performer led the conference in steals. Long wingspan (6-foot-8) and 38-inch vertical also enabled impressive production on the glass. ...Explosive scorer at times. Had at least 20 points in 12 games last season, including 25 during an NCAA Tournament win over Northern Iowa. ...3-point shooting plummeted (30.6%) as a sophomore after sinking 37 percent during his freshman season. ...DraftExpress.com ranks Rozier 29th among all 2015 prospects and behind fellow point guards Tyus Jones, Jerian Grant and Delon Wright.
Fit for the Wizards:
The Wizards could arguably go with a "best player available" approach in the first round, especially if Paul Pierce sticks around Chinatown for another season. In that case, point guards are in play. Ramon Sessions provided a lift in spots last season, including initially after John Wall suffered a fractured wrist during the playoffs. The veteran is competent, but not terribly explosive. Entering the final year of his contract, Sessions also isn't a long-term answer as Wall's backup. Throughout the season Washington struggled defending backup point guard, especially quick types like Dennis Schroder and Aaron Brooks. There is also the possibility of a trade down in the first round or acquiring another pick in the 26-35 range. On the surface, Rozier doesn't seem likely at 19, but his scoring ability and defensive stopper potential certainly intrigues.
