Not to be outdone by their roommates at the Verizon Center who also completed a trade on Thursday, the Wizards have reportedly made a move of their own, acquiring forward Jared Dudley from Milwaukee in exchange for a protected 2nd-round draft pick.
For his career, Dudley has averaged 8.5 points and 3.4 boards per game. He's also made 39.6% of his three-point attempts in his eight NBA seasons.
Are there any other things worth mentioning about the newest Wizard? Hm. Oh yeah, there's that one time he called out Kobe Bryant.
It's true. In an interview on Colin Cowherd's ESPN radio show back in May, Dudley was asked about what players around the league think about Kobe. You can't say his response wasn't honest.
"He wants to show everyone so much," Dudley said. "I remember seeing Kobe, I think it was 70 games in [this past season] and he had out-shot the whole Lakers team by like 100 shots. C’mon now. We love you, Kobe, but c’mon. It’s, like, it’s now time to start giving up. Most guys don’t want to play with Kobe."
Dudley then switched his vision from Kobe to the Lakers as a whole, and fired one last jab at the organization.
"That’s why I think it will be a while for the Lakers to get good because they’ve got no stars."
Wow, did it just get a little hotter in here, or is that just me?
The Wizards will receive their 2015-16 regular season schedule on July 22nd. Since Dudley said these things in May, though, him and Kobe haven't seen each other on the court yet. That means you should certainly keep an eye out for when the Wizards and Lakers are scheduled to play each other, and circle the dates on your calendar, because Kobe doesn't usually take criticism well.
