On Saturday a report came out saying the Washington Wizards were not among the teams scheduled to meet with Kevin Durant. Now another report from Sam Amick of USA Today indicates the Wizards may already be out of the running for the prized free agent.
Citing a "a person with knowledge of his situation," the report states that the Wizards "are not expected to land a meeting with the former MVP."
So not only do the Wizards not have a meeting scheduled with Durant, Amick is saying they are unlikely to get one. Obviously that does not bode well for the team's chances of landing him in free agency.
This sentiment was also echoed by ESPN's Britt McHenry on Sunday.
A team source tells me at this point it's very unlikely that Kevin Durant comes to Wizards. Also, told "it's not like LeBron and Cleveland"

Though not known as a basketball insider, McHenry has worked as a sports correspondent for many years in the D.C. area.
While the possibility of Durant returning to play for his hometown team appeared remote at the start of free agency, these reports appear to slam the door shut on any possibility that the team was even being considered.
