Talking Stick Resort Arena likely conjures some unpleasant memories for Markieff Morris, who was traded from the Suns to the Wizards this February. But when the forward returned to his old stomping grounds for the first time on April Fool's Day, neither his current nor former team could pass up a good prank.
Just take a look at the Washington locker room, where Morris' locker was filled with bright orange Phoenix gear. His old No. 11 jersey, shorts, sneakers and name plate.
HA HA! So funny! Right Markieff?? Right?
Maybe, but also maybe not. Remember, Morris feels the Suns betrayed him by trading away his twin, Marcus, without consulting him. This happened in July of 2015, less than a year after the brothers signed a joint contract extension (for what they considered below market value) in order to stay together in Phoenix.
The team, for its part, probably didn't like the Kansas product throwing a towel at then-coach Jeff Hornacek or shoving his teammate Archie Goodwin, either.
But a whole month and change has passed since Morris hoverboarded out of that situation. Surely we can all laugh about it now! April Fools!
