Chad Johnson wants Ron Rivera to call him and Dwayne Haskins seems excited about the idea

Chad Johnson wants Ron Rivera to call him and Dwayne Haskins seems excited about the idea

As the Redskins enter 2020 under new head coach Ron Rivera, the franchise looks like they're headed in the right direction after a tumultuous 3-13 campaign in 2019.

In response to a fan's question about returning to the NFL as a wide receivers coach, Chad Johnson said he'd want Rivera to give him a call.

Dwayne Haskins seems pretty excited about the idea of having Johnson coach up the likes of Terry McLaurin and Steven Sims.

Johnson was one of the best route runners ever, finished his career with over 11,000 receiving yards in just 10 seasons. He certainly would have plenty of knowledge to share with Washington's young receiving core.

Every offseason is important, but this year holds much more weight for the Redskins. With a new coach, new quarterback and a No. 2 overall pick, Washington to set themselves up for a drastic turnaround in a notably unpredictable NFC East.

Could Johnson be a part of that equation? That's up to Rivera.

Browns part ways with GM John Dorsey

Browns part ways with GM John Dorsey

The Browns were uncharacteristically quiet on "Black Monday" and the days following last season, so this year they had to make up for it.

After already firing head coach Freddie Kitchens, the Browns parted ways with general manager John Dorsey, according to the team. Dorsey and owner Jimmy Haslam could come to an agreement on restructuring the organization moving forward per Schefter's report.

Dorsey arrived in Cleveland two years ago after a run as the Chiefs' general manager from 2013-2016.

With the Browns, Dorsey's biggest moves involved drafting Baker Mayfield, Denzel Ward and Nick Chubb while trading for Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.

The Browns entered the 2019 season with hopes of making the Super Bowl but instead finished 6-10. Mayfield didn't take a step forward in his second season under center, the locker room dysfunction returned, so now Haslam is cleaning house.

Not that the Ravens were all that worried about the Browns anyway, but another restart by a division rival bodes well for Baltimore's success next season.

And as the Redskins move on from Bruce Allen, Dorsey could be an option to run football operations alongside reported new coach Ron Rivera. Their interest in him is not yet known, but Dorsey's track record speaks for itself. He knows how to find talent.

A meager performance keeps Kirk Cousins winless on Monday Night Football

A meager performance keeps Kirk Cousins winless on Monday Night Football

It's been a rough season for Redskins fans, but you can always that silver lining.

Sure the team's 3-11, but they're in a great position to get generational pass-rusher Chase Young in the 2020 NFL Draft.

And yeah, we don't really know if Dwayne Haskins will develop into a franchise quarterback, but at least the Redskins didn't sign Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $84 million contract.

Cousins fell to 0-9 on Monday Night Football with a painful loss at home to the Packers, continuing his awful track record in primetime settings.

He completed 16-of-31 passes for 122 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Cousins has actually had a terrific season to date. The Vikings are 10-5 and set for the postseason and he has a 26-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Producing good numbers has never been the issue for Cousins. It's beating good teams on the big stage.

The Redskins realized this a while ago when they held off on signing him to a long term deal, and the Vikings will soon if they haven't already.
