NBA 2K20 finally announced Bradley Beal's overall rating for this years' game and um, it's horrible:

Firstly, Beal started 2K19 as an 87 overall also, but then received a "generous" bump up to an 88 by seasons' end.

The problem with Beal having an identical overall on 2K in two consecutive seasons is that he wasn't an identical player both years.

He was even better last year.

In the 2017-2018 season, Beal averaged 22.6 points on 46 percent shooting from the field, with 4.4 rpg, 4.5 apg, while knocking down 79.1 percent of his free throws.

In the following 2018-2019 season, Beal tallied 25.6 points on 47.6 percent shooting from the field, with 5 rpg, 5.5 apg, while sinking 80.8 percent of his free throw attempts.

And by the way, last season Beal was just the 11th player in NBA history to average at least 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game with a true shooting percentage upwards of 58 (and the fifth to not be named to an All-NBA team). He was also just the fourth player in NBA history to have 2,000 points, 400 rebounds, and 400 assists.

Secondly, let's take a look some of the players given a higher overall than Beal in this year's game:

Kyrie Irving (91) - 23.8 points (48.7 FG%), 5 rebounds, 6.9 assists

Kemba Walker (88) - 25.6 points (43.4 FG%), 4.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists

Donovan Mitchell (88) - 23.8 points (43.2 FG%), 4.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists

Rudy Gobert (88) - 15.9 points (66.9 FG%), 12.9 rebounds, 2 assists

Jimmy Butler (88) - 18.7 points (46.2FG%, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists

Cue the meme:

I sincerely doubt Beal needs any added motivation to be an even better basketball player this season, however, this could operate as a tiny chip on his shoulder.
