NBC Sports Washington has named Chris Miller the new primary play-by-play announcer for the Washington Wizards.

Miller is a multi-time Emmy Award-winning host, reporter and commentator and 15-year network veteran. He joins analyst Drew Gooden courtside for Wizards broadcasts in 2022-23.

“Chris is a tremendously experienced professional and a Wizards authority whose knowledge and passion for the team, league and sport has earned the respect of fans, colleagues and the basketball community,” said NBC Sports Washington President & General Manager Jackie Bradford. “This is a well-earned opportunity for Chris to take an even larger role and make an even greater impact on our Wizards coverage. We look forward to the great experience he’ll bring to fans every gameday.”

An Indiana State University graduate, Miller joined NBC Sports Washington, then known as Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, in 2007 after six years working for NewsChannel 5 (WEWS) in Cleveland, where he was weekend anchor and sports director from 2001 to 2007.

Previously, he was sports anchor for KGAN-TV (CBS) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for four years. Miller also earned experience as a college football sideline reporter for ESPN and CSTV.

“I want to first thank NBC Sports Washington for their continued support entering my 16th season covering the Wizards,” Miller said. “I used to believe my dream was impossible, but now it’s reality and I couldn’t be more honored and excited. There are many people responsible for getting me to this point, but my family deserves a special thanks for being with me on this 25-year journey. I look forward to seeing the fans next season and can’t wait for tipoff.”

Miller replaces Justin Kutcher, who held the position the past three seasons.

Throughout his tenure with NBCSW, Miller has led or contributed to extensive original content, including magazine shows, specials and digital features, covering the Wizards, its players, the NBA and the sport of basketball.

Miller was recognized with a regional Emmy Award in 2014 for The Real Beal, a special profiling Wizards star Bradley Beal, and earned an Emmy nomination for a digital video series on former Wizard Rod Strickland’s time with the team. Miller also served as longtime host of the WizardsTalk podcast.

Miller was NBCSW’s lead Wizards reporter for its former daily news programs, SportsNet Central, which he also anchored, and contributed coverage of the team to the network’s other programming. He also spent several seasons as a host for NBCSW’s gameday shows for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens and covered nearly every Washington-Baltimore area team and event as a reporter.
