Deni Avdija exits game in wheelchair following leg injury

Wizards

Wizards rookie Deni Avdija exited Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors with an apparent right leg injury which required him to leave the court in a wheelchair late in the second quarter.

Adding to the worry of all who were watching was the fact teammate Jordan Bell immediately rushed over to cover Avdija's ankle with a practice jersey.

Avdija went back to the locker room for further testing which included an X-Ray during the game. Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard was shown on the NBC Sports Washington broadcast briskly walking back to the locker room to check on him.

The reported result of the X-Ray by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was that the rookie suffered a hairline fracture that will shut down his season. An MRI will be conducted tomorrow for further information.

Avdija, 20, was the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He has started 32 of the 54 games he's played this season.
