Wow. What a game for the Washington Wizards going against a team with two former NBA MVPs. It would be such a shame if the game came down to one foul call ...
As is becoming the case with James Harden throughout his tenure with the Rockets, Harden got a late-game call to go his way. The Rockets point guard drove into a cluster of Wizards in the final seconds and fell to the hardwood to draw a whistle.
He would go on to hit the game-winning free throw to give Houston the win.
Issac Bonga was covering the 2018 MVP for what was presumed to be the final possession with the game tied at 158. Harden drove into the lane, contacted Bonga and then possibly embellished a fall to the court. The Wizards were furious. Fans were furious. Twitter erupted.
Officials called a foul.
So did he flop? You be the judge.
The Wizards went toe-to-toe against the Harden and Russell Westbrook led Houston Rockets. Together they combined for 317 points in what was a thriller for the Wizards 2019-20 home opener. Harden had a game-high 59 points to lead the way for Houston.
