Drake and John Wall are good friends, so when the rap superstar came to Washington, D.C. for a concert with Migos on Thursday night, he paid tribute to the Wizards' five-time All-Star.
Drake, who played two shows with Migos, wore Wall's high school basketball jersey for the first set of his second show.
Wall went to Word of God Academy in Raleigh, N.C.
Here are some pictures:
Wall seemed to appreciate the gesture, judging by his Instagram post afterwards:
Wall suggested he was there by saying it was a "crazy" show. There were many D.C. sports athletes in attendance. Wall's teammates Kelly Oubre, Jr. and Devin Robinson were there and so were Redskins players D.J. Swearinger and Derrius Guice. Wizards rookie Troy Brown, Jr. went to the first show on Wednesday night.
Wall and Drake had a friendly rivalry during the playoff series between the Wizards and Raptors this past spring.
Drake has made a habit of wearing throwback jerseys of NBA players. In his video for 'In My Feelings,' he wore DeMarcus Cousins' high school uniform. Cousins and Wall, of course, teamed up in college at the University of Kentucky. Drake is a noted fan of the Wildcats.
Given the battles between the Wizards and Raptors over the years, we probably won't see Drake wearing Wall's NBA jersey. But the high school uniform is fair game.
