John Wall's Thanksgiving Day Assist 2020 event successfully completed its goal Tuesday of distributing 1,000 hot meals from Henry's Soul Cafe to residents in Southeast D.C.'s Ward 8, as announced by the John Wall Family Foundation.
"We want you to enjoy your meals, treat it like it's Thanksgiving, because a lot of us don't have the opportunity to get meals," Wall said in an Instagram story shared by the JWFF.
The Wizards Twitter account also shared moments from the event.
Wall's name has recently surfaced in trade rumors, but that didn't stop him from continuing to give back to the city he's called home his entire 10-year NBA career.
A 2015-16 NBA Cares Community Assist recipient, Wall and his foundation have given back to the community in a number of ways over the years, including past Thanksgiving Day events. In June, his 202 Assist initiative raised over $500,000 to help Ward 8 residents pay rent during the COVID-19 pandemic.
