Giannis Antetokounmpo now has something John Wall would like for himself. The Milwaukee Bucks star inked a signature shoe deal with Nike this week with a shoe called the 'Giannis 1' set for release some time in 2019.
Wall is one of the biggest sneaker free agents out there and has said in recent months he is seeking a deal. He is happy to see Antetokounmpo get a shoe of his own as someone who follows the business closely.
"I think it's great for him. He deserves it. He's been with Nike for a while and is having a heck of a year. He's probably the frontrunner for MVP right now with the way he's playing. He's young, he's a heck of a talent and one of the best players in this league," Wall said.

Antetokounmpo was added to a small roster of players with signature shoes made under the Nike brand. LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and Paul George are the others. Nike is banking on Antetokounmpo bucking the trend of big men struggling to sell shoes. He has one of the NBA's best-selling jerseys and is by no means a traditional forward or center.
Antetokounmpo's previous contract with Nike expired on Oct. 1, but he ended up re-signing after several weeks of negotiating. The fact he re-signed stood out to Wall.
"Like he said, he's about loyalty. It's about loyalty. When he first came into this league, he could have went anywhere else and he stayed committed to them," Wall said.
Which NBA star will be next to get a signature shoe deal is tough to predict, but Wall would appear to be in the mix of the best candidates.
