Before he went down with a quad injury that's sidelined him for two weeks now, Davis Bertans was lighting the NBA on fire from three-point range.
He was 43.4 percent on insane volume from deep (8.6 3PA per game) and was well on pace to hit over 300 threes this season before getting hurt. Only two players in NBA history have hit 300 threes in a season (Stephen Curry, James Harden).
You'd think Bertans would be a lock to participate in the three-point contest, but Jordan McRae wanted to make sure everyone knew his teammate belongs in the shootout.
@DBertans_42 3 point contest. I’ll be the campaign manager!!!!!!!— Jordan McRae (@JordyMac52) January 6, 2020
Bertans then responded, and for a player so confident in his shot he was hilariously grateful for McRae's endorsement.
Do you think I deserve to be there?? Thank you @JordyMac52 , means a lot!— Dāvis Bertāns (@DBertans_42) January 6, 2020
On Monday night, Jordan McRae hit an absurd three at the end of the shot clock, so Bertans hilariously asked to be his teammate's three-point contest campaign manager as well.
We've yet to hear of any confirmed participants this year, but if you want to see Bertans light up the nets during All-Star weekend, make sure to throw McRae a retweet or something.
Hopefully, Bertans will be healthy and still a member of the Wizards once the time comes.
