After falling well short of expectations with a second-round playoff exit in September, the Milwaukee Bucks are intent on not letting that happen again.
The Bucks orchestrated a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, netting star shooting guard Jrue Holiday in exchange for three first-round picks, two future pick swaps and guards Eric Bledsoe and George Hill. They also traded Ersan İlyasova, Donte DiVincenzo and D.J. Wilson to the Sacramento Kings for Bogdan Bogdanović and Justin James.
Milwaukee is in danger of losing two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to free agency next offseason, so the team is pushing all its chips to the middle of the table in hopes of competing for a championship and convincing Antetokounmpo to stay. If the Bucks’ NBA Finals odds are any indication, the team is in good shape heading into the 2020-21 season.
According to the sportsbook PointsBet, the Bucks’ title odds rose from +650 to +450 following the Holiday trade. The move pushed them past the Brooklyn Nets for the best odds in the Eastern Conference, putting them behind only the reigning champion Los Angeles Lakers.
