After a blockbuster trade went down Wednesday night that sent John Wall to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Russell Westbrook, everyone immediately noticed Westbrook would be reunited with his former Oklahoma City Thunder head coach, Scott Brooks. Everyone including Kendrick Perkins who was a part of that OKC team from 2010-2015. From what Perkins remembers of those days in the Southwest, Brooks is the perfect coach for Brodie.
"He's going over there to Scott Brooks. I was with Russ and Scott Brooks when we were up in Oklahoma City and there's only one coach that I've seen hold Russ accountable and that was Scottie Brooks," Perkins said on ESPN. "And Russ took it! Russ has the ultimate respect for Brooks and vice versa."
According to Michael Lee of the Washington Post, Westbrook was "intrigued about playing with Bradley Beal and excited to reunite with Scott Brooks."
During Westbrook's six seasons in OKC, under Brooks, Westbrook averaged 20.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.9 assists and claimed three All-Star appearances.
