Wiseman, Edwards, Toppin opt out of NBA Combine

The 2020 NBA Draft Combine is set to begin this week, but several of the top prospects will not be participating.

Anthony Edwards (Georgia), James Wiseman (Memphis) and Obi Toppin (Dayton) have all opted out. All three are expected to be top picks with Edwards the slight favorite to be taken first overall by Minnesota.

Sixty one players in total will participate in the combine including LaMelo Ball (Illawarra), Tyrese Haliburton (Iowa State) and Jalen Smith (Maryland). The combine, which is usually held in Brooklyn or Chicago and in mid-May, has undergone signifcant change this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

There will be several stages over the course of more than a month. The first stage is a round of interviews on videoconference. Later phases will include anthropometric measurements, pro days and shooting drills.
