Russell Westbrook received permission from both Gilbert Arenas and the Wizards to take No. 0 after wearing the number on the back of his jersey for the first 12 years of his career, but he decided to wear his high school No. 4 in Washington instead.
Luckily, he received permission to wear that number too.
Marcin Gortat played center for the Wizards for five seasons, wearing No. 4 for the first two. He switched to No. 13, which he wore when playing for the Orlando Magic at the start of his career, after teammate Kevin Seraphin left via free agency following the 2014-15 season.
Wizards guard Bradley Beal played with Gortat while he was in D.C. and will be Westbrook’s new co-star this season. He enjoyed Gortat’s tweet, which wasn’t posted with any seriousness.
Westbrook wasn’t looking for Gortat’s permission, but now he has it anyway.
