The 2020 NBA Draft finally has an official date, as the newest crop of talent will join the league on November 18, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.
Following the delay of the 2019-20 NBA season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the draft has been pushed back to October 16. However, in recent weeks it had been reported that the league would eventually delay the event and other big moments in the offseason. This includes the beginning of free agency.
The delaying of the draft until November 18 plays into the idea that the 2020-21 NBA season may not begin until 2021. December 1 had been a tentative date, but the NBA has admitted that it seems unlikely as the league holds out hope that it can have fans in attendance for the upcoming season.
Come November 18, the Washington Wizards will hold the No. 9 pick.
