Report: Wizards interested in Billups for head coach opening

The Wizards are searching for their next coach after parting ways with Scott Brooks, the pool of potential candidates is beginning to take shape.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Wizards are among multiple teams expressing interest in Clippers assistant coach Chauncey Billups. The Celtics, Pelicans and Trail Blazers are three teams looking at Billups, with Portland considering Billups a "prominent candidate."

Billups has only been in coaching for a year, joining the Clippers' staff at the beginning of this season but has drawn praise for the work he's done helping Paul George and Kawhi Leonard take on more playmaking responsibilities.

Before that, he had a long, successful playing career in the NBA that culminated in a championship with the 2004 Pistons.
