Brooklyn Nets star point guard, Kyrie Irving is playing his first game in TD Garden since he was a member of the Boston Celtics in 2019. Prior to tip-off, Irving was seen circling the hardwood while burning sage throughout the arena.
The act of burning sage is believed to act as a spiritual ritual that cleanses a person or space, while also promoting healing and wisdom.
It's widely known that Irving's time in Boston didn't quite go how both parties envisioned, so it shouldn't be a surprise (to those who follow Irving closely) that the six-time All-Star wants to ensure he's protected physically and spiritually during his return.
Wizards star Bradley Beal also caught wind of the video on social media and fully supports Irving's unique pregame ritual.
"Positive vibes only!" Beal said.
Irving's teammate, Kevin Durant had a pretty funny response to Irving's new pregame ritual as well.
"Kyrie probably sages his room before he plays 2K," Durant said.
The Nets and Wizards meet with each other on Jan. 3 for their first regular-season head-to-head of the season.
