Victor Oladipo's relationship with the Pacers made headlines once again Thursday after reports surfaced that he was heard asking opposing players if he could play with them during the season.
“Can I come play with y’all?” Oladipo, a DeMatha alum, said in front of his Pacers teammates, according to IndyStar's J. Michael.
Couple this report with his apparent desire to move on from Indiana before hitting free agency next year, and Oladipo's days with the Pacers appear numbered.
However, Oladipo's agent Aaron Turner refuted the troubling rumors surrounding his client with Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine on SiriusXM radio.
"My first reaction was, I just laughed," Turner said. "At first I thought it was a joke, and then I started reading it a little bit deeper, and I was like, 'Wow, this is serious stuff they're accusing him of.' If you know [Oladipo] or have been around him, it's a complete joke. That is not even close to what's in his DNA."
The Raptors, Knicks and Heat were all mentioned in the report as teams Oladipo was openly asking to join in front of the Pacers. Turner went on to mention how Oladipo wants to win a championship and play at the highest level, so the teams he was rumored to talk to don't make a lot of sense.
Since the Heat made the Finals this year and the Raptors won it all in 2019, the Knicks would be the odd one out in that regard. They haven't been to the playoffs since 2013 and have been one of the worst teams in the NBA over the last seven years.
Even so, Turner made sure to shoot down any notion that Oladipo said those things in front of his Pacers' teammates.
"It's completely crazy," he said. "There's no truth to it and I don't believe it for one second."
