The Wizards announced Sunday that guard Justin Robinson had been waived.
Robinson, an undrafted rookie from Virginia Tech, signed with the Wizards shortly after the 2019 NBA Draft concluded.
Robinson appeared in only nine games for Washington, averaging 1.4 points per game.
While injuries have kept John Wall sidelined, it has been Ish Smith, Isaiah Thomas, and undrafted rookie Garrison Mathews that have split most of the available minutes at point guard alongside Bradley Beal.
Washington announced that they have waived Justin Robinson. $396K cap hit on the guard for this season. Robinson was signed to a three-year $4.2M contract in the off-season. No salary obligation for 2020/21 and 2021/22.— Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) January 5, 2020
Another recent addition that has thrived in the nation's capital is Gary Payton II. The veteran journeyman has posted 6.9 PPG, 3.0 APG, and 4.4 RPG in just over 23 minutes per game and has found a role off the bench.
The Wizards host the surging Celtics Monday at Capital One Arena.
