The Wizards were not going to make a big splash at the 2018 NBA Trade Deadline.

But making a minor trade wasn't out of the question.

On Thursday, the Wizards decided to deal reserve shooting guard Sheldon Mac to the Atlanta Hawks, NBC Sports Washington's Chris Miller confirmed.

The news was first reported by  to Yahoo Sports.

NBC Sports Washington's Chris Miller is the first to report that the Wizards will receive a heavily protected NBA Draft pick in return for Mac.

But the Hawks are not expected to keep Mac around. According to the Washington Post, the Hawks will waive Mac and he will remain in Washington, D.C. to continue rehabilitation on the Achillies injury he suffered in early October.

The second-year player went undrafted after finishing his collegiate career at Miami.

Mac appeared in 30 games last season for the Wizards, starting in three games. He averaged 3.1 ppg and 1.1 rpg. Mac had yet to appear in a game for the Wizards this season, spending the first 54 games in the NBA G-League.
