The Wizards purchased a full-page ad in Sunday’s edition of The Washington Post to thank former point guard John Wall for his contributions on and off the court over his 10 years in D.C.
Wall was traded to the Houston Rockets last week along with a protected first-round pick in exchange for former MVP Russell Westbrook. The trade ended a memorable run between Wall and the Wizards that saw the former No. 1 pick make five straight All-Star teams and lead them to four playoff berths.
Though Wall’s tenure ended with a nearly two-year rehab from multiple Achilles injuries, he left behind a legacy matched by few professional athletes in the District. The Wizards posted a tribute video Thursday honoring his best moments with the team.
Wall also released a statement thanking D.C. sports fans for the impact they made on him.
The Wizards will face Wall for the first time Jan. 26 in Houston with his return to Washington set for Feb. 15.
