WASHINGTON -- Within the final hour before the trade deadline, the Washington Wizards struck a deal to send Jordan McRae to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Shabazz Napier, NBC Sports Washington confirmed.
The trade, which was first reported by the Washington Post, lands the Wizards a point guard in exchange for their backup shooting guard. Napier, 28, had just been traded to the Nuggets this week from the Timberwolves where he averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 assists per game this season.
McRae leaves the Wizards after two seasons. This year he is averaging 12.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Napier adds point guard depth to the Wizards roster with John Wall expected to miss the rest of this season as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles.
