The struggling Washington Wizards (13-22) will play host to the Chicago Bulls (9-26) on Friday night, with both teams on the outside looking in at the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
The Bulls are in the midst of a rebuild, though they've found themselves playing better basketball as of late. Chicago has won three of its past six games, including an impressive road win in San Antonio.
They have been led all season long by their young core. Zach LaVine leads the team in scoring by a wide margin (23.9 PPG), and he's followed by Lauri Markkanen, Jabari Parker, Kris Dunn, and Bobby Portis. 2018 first-round pick Wendell Carter is also averaging in double figures.
The Wizards' modest three game winning streak to kick off December feels like a distant memory, as the team finds itself in another losing stretch. Washington has lost eight of its past 10 games, and they needed triple overtime to defeat the visiting Phoenix Suns for one of those two wins.
The Wizards are hoping to take advantage of a small break in the schedule with three straight winnable home games before they enter a much more difficult stretch in January.
This is the first of four meetings between Chicago and Washington this season.
The Wizards vs. Bulls game will take place on Friday, Dec. 28 at 7:00 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. and will be braodcast on NBC Sports Washington.
