Yamaico Navarro ripped his first homer of the season, a two-run shot, in Monday’s win over the Braves.
He also singled and drove in a run with a fielder’s choice. It’s a nice showing for Navarro after he started the season just 1-for-13 at the dish. The utility player will continue to see sporadic playing time and is someone fantasy owners can ignore.
  • INT 2nd Baseman
Yamaico Navarro went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Pirates topped the Yankees 7-4 on Tuesday.
The Royals incorrectly deduced that Navarro was the most expendable player on their 40-man roster back in December and sent him to the Pirates for a couple of non-prospects. He’s looking like a good bet to win a job as a utilityman, and since he can play all over the infield and the outfield corners, he might have some fantasy value in NL-only leagues once injuries strike.
  • CWS Outfield #47
Alex Presley is out of the Pirates’ lineup for the second straight day Wednesday.
Presley has just three hits in his last 28 at-bats, so he may continue to lose playing time if his struggles persist. Yamaico Navarro will make the start in left field Wednesday and bat sixth against left-hander Ross Detwiler.
  • INT 2nd Baseman
Yamaico Navarro went 4-for-4 with an RBI in the Pirates’ 9-7 defeat of the Astros on Sunday.
With a .366 average this spring, Navarro has likely nailed down a utility job. He doesn’t have the power or speed to be of a lot of use in NL-only leagues, but he could get quite a bit of playing time if he’s the primary backup at second, third and shortstop.
  • INT 2nd Baseman
Yamaico Navarro was sent back to Bradenton for X-rays after being hit on the forearm with a pitch during Tuesday’s game.
Navarro was initially diagnosed with a left forearm contusion, but we should know more about his status on Wednesday. The 24-year-old is batting .341 (15-for-44) this spring and should get plenty of playing time in the Pirates’ infield this season.
  • INT 2nd Baseman
X-rays came back negative on Yamaico Navarro’s left forearm.
Navarro was diagnosed with a left forearm contusion after being hit by a pitch during Tuesday’s game, but he should be fine. The 24-year-old is batting .341 (15-for-44) this spring and should be an active member of the Pirates’ bench this season.
  • MLB Shortstop #3
The Royals may look to add a veteran shortstop who can back up Alcides Escobar this offseason.
The Royals are not entirely sold on Chris Getz and newcomer Yamaico Navarro is not an ideal fit. Current free agent options include Jimmy Rollins, Jose Reyes, Clint Barmes, John McDonald, Nick Punto, and Jack Wilson. However, Rollins and Reyes are of the high-end variety and considered to be out of their price range.
  • INT 2nd Baseman
Pirates acquired INF Yamaico Navarro from the Royals in exchange for RHP Brooks Pounders and INF Diego Goris.
Navarro has a good shot to make the Pirates’ Opening Day roster as a utilityman and provides some insurance for Pedro Alvarez at third base. He’s batted just .206/.250/.265 over 102 major league at-bats but sports a much better .279/.348/.430 batting line during his minor league career.
  • INT 2nd Baseman
Pirates recalled INF Yamaico Navarro from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Neil Walker suffered a dislocated right pinkie finger on Wednesday night, so Navarro will provide some insurance at second base. The 24-year-old was hitting .275/.359/.490 with eight home runs, 32 RBI, nine stolen bases and an .849 OPS over 231 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this year.
  • INT 2nd Baseman
Pirates’ minor league infielder Yamaico Navarro was arrested for a DUI on Wednesday in Indianapolis.
No further details are available at this time. Navarro was optioned to the minors at the end of May after batting just .178 (8-for-45) with one homer and a .499 OPS in 25 games. The 24-year-old infielder is hitting .286/.353/.495 with four homers, 20 RBI and an .848 OPS in 30 games at Indy.
