Shane Doan is interested in coming to Sharks, according to hisagent, Terry Bross. But before you make plans to buy a Doan jersey, you shouldknow San Joseisnt the only suitor in which Doan has reportedly expressed interest.Bross reportedly told the Canucks, Penguins, Blackhawks andRed Wings that his client has an interest in playing for them, too. At least 11teams have reportedly called about Doan.Bross told David Pollack of the Mercury News that there isstrong mutual interest between the Sharks and the free agent right winger andthat he has been in contact with Sharks general manager Doug Wilson. However, other teams have reportedly had similar interactionswith Doan and Bross. The Detroit Free Press reported that the Red Wings have alead in the Doan sweepstakes based on Bross saying his client has interest inDetroit.Canucks assistant general manager Laurence Gilman is hopingthe early bird catches the worm and his July 1 contact with Doan will help bringDoan to Vancouver, the Vancouver Sun reported.Whether any team actually has the lead to land Doan, whocontributed 50 points to the Coyotes last season, is unclear. Bross could justbe trying to create a buzz about his client across the NHL landscape. The Sharks ought to examine Doan closely before makinga multi-million dollar bid. Doans 50 points were his lowest since the 2001-02season and his 28 assists were tied for his lowest since the 1999-2000 season. He also had a negative plus-minus for the first time since 2006-07.Still his sizehes 6 foot, 1 inch and 228 poundsmakesDoan an attractive power forward option for many teams.
