SAN FRANCISCO -- Less than three full innings into his first game after manager Bruce Bochy re-installed him as the Giants everyday shortstop, Miguel Tejada suffered a lower abdominal strain that forced him off the field.Moving to his right in an attempt to field Rafael Furcals ground ball in the hole between second and third base in the top of the third inning, Tejada booted the ball for an error and immediately doubled over, wincing in obvious pain.The teams medical staff quickly rushed onto the field to examine Tejada, 37, before helping him to the clubhouse. He was replaced by rookie Brandon Crawford, who received a huge roar of approval from the sellout crowd upon emerging from the dugout.Tejada opened the season as the starter at shortstop, but Crawford claimed the job not long after his May 26 callup from the minors. Crawfords bat has cooled of late, however, while Tejada has been swinging one of the teams hottest sticks, and Bochy told reporters before Mondays game that Tejada has earned his former job back.No further details were available on Tejadas injury, the nature of which was announced in the press box during the fifth inning.
