Giancarlo Stanton doesn't think Barry Bonds' 73 home runs in 2001 is the real single-season home run record, but that won't stop Miami's star from seeking the Home Run King's advice.
“Barry’s been huge for me,” Stanton said Monday to the Miami Herald. “We talk all the time. He’s guided me along this year.”
Going into Wednesday's slate of games, Stanton currently has 51 home runs, easily the most in the majors this season. As Stanton continues his dominant run, Bonds has been right by his side offering advice on how pitchers will attack him.

“He likes it,” Stanton said. “He’s telling me to stay the course and make sure I’m ready to go every day.”
But while Bonds offers his encouragement, that doesn't mean he wants the Marlins' slugger to break his record.
“Uh, no,” Stanton said when asked if Bonds brings up his 73 homers.
Bonds was Stanton's hitting coach last season in which he hit 27 home runs in 119 games played.
