DENVERThe Bruins needed to respond after a pancake game against the Buffalo Sabresas in flat as a pancakeand they did just that in an impressive 6-2 throttling of a young, talented Colorado Avalanche bunch at Pepsi Center. Milan Lucic potted a pair of goals, Mark Recchi factored in three of the four goals and Tim Thomas was at his best in the third period as the Bs held on for dear life against the full attack of the Avs in the final 20 minutes. The Bruins fell behind early in the contest behind a fortuitous bounce off Peter Stastny in front of the Boston net, but credit Gregory Campbell with dropping the gloves and swinging the momentum of the game. Campbell fought with Cody MacLeod, and his Bruins teammates responded in a big way.Brad Marchand popped his 11th goal of the season from in front to tie the game up, and then Milan Lucic finished off a nice play from David Krejci to give Boston a lead they wouldnt surrender.Marchand made a nice Patrice Bergeron-esque play to set a Mark Recchi score in the second period, and Milan Lucic added another nice goal from the slot for his career-best 19th goal of the season. The big negative in the win: Marc Savard took a hit to the head in the second period from a Matt Hunwick check when he slammed the side of his head against the dasher between the boards and the glass. The collision took place with little more than three minutes gone in the second period, and Savard never returned after the head injury.Patrice Bergeron capped off the win with a goal from his knees midway through the third period that iced down a furious Colorado attack through the first half of the games final period.
