On Friday we found out Josh Beckett would miss his start on Sunday with inflammation in his pitching shoulder.

Beckett will be missing more than Sunday's start as he has been placed on the disabled list, according to Nick Cafardo.

CSNNE.com Red Sox Insider Sean McAdam has confirmed the Cafardo report.

Beckett has a 4.14 ERA and 78.1 innings pitched in 12 starts for the club this season.

Clayton Mortenson has reportedly been called up to take Beckett's space on the roster. The 27-year-old has pitched 9.1 innings with a 0.96 ERA in 3 games for the Red Sox.
