Hogan missing from final Patriots practice of bye week

FOXBORO -- Chris Hogan was the only player not present for the final practice of the Patriots bye week. According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Hogan is dealing with an illness that is not considered serious.

Among the Patriots who were present for the sweats-and-shells session were running back Dion Lewis (on the physically unable to perform list) and quarterback Jacoby Brissett (on injured reserve).

Lewis has been eligible to practice since last week and may be activated to the 53-man roster at any time. Brissett can't practice with the team -- he was not wearing shells under his jersey and did not have his helmet with him -- until he has been on IR for six weeks. He can be activated from IR after eight weeks on the reserve list. His thumb injury is progressing well, and he has been around the team as much as possible recently. Over the weekend, he traveled with the Patriots to Western New York though he was not eligible to play.

Also present at practice was new practice-squad tight end Austin Traylor and practice squad offensive lineman Chase Farris. There was also a new player on the field wearing No. 82. The new addition could be a member of the active roster -- the team has an open spot after trading Jamie Collins -- or he could be on the practice squad if a practice squad player has been promoted.
