Richard Sherman fined for hit on Bills kicker

The Patriots will see Richard Sherman in Foxboro Sunday. When they do, he’ll be ever-so-slightly less rich.

Sherman was fined fined $9,115 for his hit on Bills kicker Dan Carpenter during the Seahawks’ 31-25 victory over Buffalo. The hit, which saw Sherman jump offsides before hitting Carpenter, was not flagged at the time since the play was dead. It yielded a large public reaction, with Carpenter’s wife tweeting that Sherman should be castrated like an animal. Her tweet was interpreted by many to be racist.

Kaela Carpenter apologized for the tweet, which Sherman called “BS.”

On the season, Sherman has 33 tackles, with his three interceptions tied for second-most in the NFL.
