Alshon Jeffery injuries continue to hang over Bears offense

Alshon Jeffery was questionable at the end of last week going into the St. Louis Rams game, bothered by a groin injury that hindered his effectiveness. The wide receiver was unable to practice Friday with a shoulder injury being added to the groin problem, darkening the cloud over his chances of playing Sunday against the Denver Broncos and their No. 1 passing offense.

The offense also will be without Eddie Royal (knee) for the fourth time in the last six games, while running back Matt Forte practiced on a limited basis and is questionable. Forte has missed the last two games with a knee injury suffered against the Minnesota Vikings.

Center Hroniss Grasu (neck) practiced in full, pointing to his return to the starting lineup after missing the past two games. That would send Matt Slauson back to left guard and either Vladimir Ducasse or Patrick Omameh to the bench.

“When [Grasu] got pulled into action back a ways and stepped in, I think he did a very good job,” said coach John Fox. “As a young player I think he’s got a bright future and we’ll evaluate that and plug him in where needed Sunday.”
