CSN's Tony Andracki and Jeff Nelson discuss the upcoming matchups and recent team meeting in this edition of the Cubs Road Ahead, presented by Chicagoland & NW Indiana Honda Dealers.
The Cubs are about to embark on their biggest regular-season series in at least the last decade, if not longer: A four-game set in Milwaukee against a Brewers team that is only 3.5 games back of the division leaders entering Thursday.
Good news for the Cubs? They're 4-2 at Miller Park this year with a 2.72 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 10.1 K/9.
Bad news for the Cubs? They're only 7-8 against the Brewers in 2017 as Ryan Braun has posted a 1.040 OPS and 12 RBI in 12 games against Chicago pitching.
And things don't calm down for the Cubs even after the weekend, as they head to St. Louis Monday for a four-game set against the Cardinals, who figure to make up some ground on one of the teams ahead of them in the standings this weekend with the Cubs and Brewers going head-to-head.
MLB will once again commemorate several holidays and special events during the 2018 season.
Monday, the league revealed the uniforms teams will don on Jackie Robinson Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and during Memorial Day weekend and Independence Day weekend.
The Cubs' regular uniforms are great, of course, but their special event uniforms are solid as well. Take a look:
Not too shabby, eh? In addition to the special caps and jerseys, MLB teams will be rocking unique socks and patches for each occasion. A complete collection of the uniforms can be found here.
The MLB regular season is still 13 days away, but Willson Contreras is ready for the swings to count.
The Cubs catcher hit an absolute bomb of a homer Friday afternoon off White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez, but it wasn't just a homer.
Contreras put an exclamation mark on the dinger (his third of the spring and the second this week) with an A+ bat flip:
I'm not sure what's more majestic: The 450-foot shot or the 45-foot bat-flip.
Either way, Contreras is ready for those 2018 NL MVP votes.
