By the numbers: How White Sox offense may have saved 2015 season

BOSTON - The numbers produced by the White Sox on their current seven-game trip are staggering when compared to their previous 92 games.

Winners of seven straight, including a 9-2 victory on Wednesday over the Boston Red Sox, the White Sox have outscored opponents 54-19 on the trip. They’re hitting at a .332/.387/.565 clip over the last seven and have increased their per-game average from 3.37 runs to 3.67.

The plus-35 in the team’s run differential has reduced its season mark to minus-46. The White Sox have also claimed six of their 11 “blowout” victories (wins by five or more runs, according to baseball-reference.com) on the trip. They are 11-15 in blowouts, having been outscored 111-161. In their other 73 games, the White Sox have outscored opponents 253-249.

The 54 runs scored accounts for 14.8 percent of the team’s 364 season total in just seven percent of their games.

The White Sox have 38 extra-base hits on the trip, which is 15.2 percent of their season total. Their 11 home runs account for 14.2 percent of their 77 in 2015.

—Melky Cabrera is hitting .545/.559/1.030 with 11 extra-base hits - including two homers, 11 RBIs and 10 runs - in 34 plate appearances. He has 30 extra-base hits on the season.

—Jose Abreu is batting .407/.500/.704 with two homers and nine RBIs in 32 PAs.

—Carlos Sanchez, who has a 12-game hitting streak, is batting .481/.500/.889 with two homers and three RBIs in 28 PAs. He’s scored six times.

—Adam Eaton has stirred the drink, hitting at a .407/.484/.741 clip with two homers and five RBIs despite missing Sunday’s game. He has scored nine runs on the trip.

—Alexei Ramirez is hitting .290/.313/.613 with two home runs and six RBIs in 32 plate appearances.
