Rookie QB Trey Lance made his 49ers debut in Saturday’s preseason game vs the Chiefs.
Overall it was an encouraging debut for Trey Lance in the 49ers' preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday night at Levi's Stadium.
The rookie finished 5-of-14 passing for 128 yards and a booming 80-yard touchdown. Bad drops from his receivers accounted for a few of those incompletions.
Some good, some bad, but basically what you'd expect from a rookie of Lance's age.

Zach Wilson vs. New York Giants: 6-of-9 passing, 63 yards
Justin Fields vs. Miami Dolphins: 14-of-20 passing, 142 yards, 1 TD
Trevor Lawrence vs. Cleveland Browns: 6-of-9 passing, 71 yards
Lance vs. Kansas City: 5-of-14 passing, 128 yards, 1 TD

If three of Lance's passes weren't dropped, we'd be looking at a completion percentage of 57 percent instead of the 35 percent he finished his debut with.
The grading process is rather complex for PFF, so even though Mac Jones' stat line doesn't seem worthy of such a high grade on the surface, factors such as decision making, reads, accuracy, etc. could factor in.
With extremely high expectations for all five of these rookie quarterbacks, it will be interesting to see how they stack up against one another week-to-week.
