Sherman has great reaction to draft pick's comparison

Richard Sherman found some humor in the comments of a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft who compared himself to the three-time All-Pro cornerback.

Nahshon Wright, a Bay Area native who played his college football at Oregon State, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the 99th overall pick on Friday night. In speaking to local Dallas media after the selection, Wright likened himself to Sherman based on the similar size the two present for the cornerback position.

“Yeah, the scheme that family and just my build,” Wright said (h/t Dallas News). “I kinda look at myself like a more athletic, agile Richard Sherman. That scheme just fits perfect.”

Sherman saw the comments and had a great reaction.

Confidence always has been a strong suit for Sherman, and he replied that he hopes Wright lives up to the billing.

Wright's 6-foot-4, 188-pound frame coming into the NFL is comparable to Sherman, who stands 6'3 and is listed at 195 pounds.

Hailing from East Palo Alto, Wright likely watched plenty of Sherman's games with Stanford, the Seattle Seahawks and eventually 49ers growing up. Wright called Sherman one of his "role models."

“Just his ability to slow the game down and kinda see all the pieces come together before the play even starts, definitely one of my role models,” Wright said.

Sherman has become one of the more veteran defensive backs in the NFL, and it is cool to see him supporting the next generation.
